The People Unlimited Summer Celebration, held in Telluride, Colorado was a feast of radical life extension and physical immortality inspiration, information and fun. Led by directors James Strole and Bernadeane, we went deeper and deeper each day of this weeklong event in exploring the lifestyle of living forever.
We were delighted to have People Unlimited member, Dr. Bill Andrews, one of the leading scientists of radical life extension, and a pioneer in the research of aging speak on his over 20 years work in the study of telomeres. Bill’s thesis that finding a way to stop the telomeres from shortening is a key to curing aging has gained considerable acceptance, and through his lab at Sierra Sciences, he is leading the charge to discover the answers. The insight and passion of Bill’s presentation was a true highlight.
People Unlimited member Otto Siegel, biologist by training, gave an excellent presentation on integrating the gut feeling of eternal living with the scientific facts that support our most basic belief that the human body can, indeed, live forever. He zeroed in on the importance of community and environment, citing the example of importance of physical touch from a young age, and how it is essential in creating adults who are healthier and happier.
Molly Sheridan, ultra marathoner, challenged us all to think about: how far can we go? For an audience committed to physical immorality, it was exactly the right question to ask. In her dynamic and heart-warming presentation, she shared how she evolved into an ultra marathoner, which began after the age of the fifty, proving to herself and all who know her that the potential of the human body is greater than we may think.
Trainer Ilana Arzt, owner of Enerjoy fitness gym in Scottsdale, and a member of People unlimited, spoke on the ability to constantly improve our health and fitness via exercise and physical movement at any age. She emphasized the importance of listening to the needs of your body and pointed out the fallacies of the “no pain, no gain” workout mentality. She detailed the virtues of a workout strategy that is truly designed for living forever, steering clear of over-exertion and injury, and of course, laziness and complacency.
We also had the pleasure of hearing Michael Greve, founder of "Forever Healthy", based in Berlin, Germany, talk about his holistic strategy for actually achieving the present life expectancy limit of 120 years, and going beyond it. Michael’s presentation was refreshingly practical and informative in sharing his comprehensive thinking on how to live long enough to live forever.
People Unlimited member, Laurie Handlers, Tantra teacher and intimacy coach, spoke on the topic of Ageless Sex, addressing the connection between sexual activity and bodily health, as well as challenging the cultural norms that view sex through the lens of age discrimination. Not surprisingly, a lively Q&A session followed.
Nutritionist Christi Christiaens, People unlimited member, spoke on nutrition and succeed in providing a clear framework for eating that supports radical life extension and physical immortality, without getting bogged down in the numerous dietary orthodoxies currently popular that tend to degrade such conversations into narrow rights and wrongs. Christi provided excellent insight and information that everyone could use to make smarter decisions on eating.
It should be noted that the performances were the best ever. These included music, singing and dancing that ranged from electronica to Latin to rock and blues. Music and performance play a significant role in People Unlimited’s on-going mission of crafting a complete culture that supports radical life extension and physical immortality. The party, DJed by Kevin Brown, was a blast, as immortals once again showed they know how to have a great time living forever.
